SEMINAR CONTENT

Have your imports ever been subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duty? Are you aware of how the assessment is made? Do you know what a designated officer determination is? Do you know the difference between a determination and a re-determination? Do you agree with the assessment? If you do not, do you know what your options are?

This seminar simplifies the appeal procedure. We guide you through the different levels of appeal within Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). You will learn about the first Designated Officer determination or “deemed determination”. We will take you through the subsequent appeal provisions right up to the appeal to the President of the CBSA.

Subsequent appeals to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and finally to the Federal Court of Appeal are covered in this tightly compact seminar.

At the end of the seminar, course participants will know the difference between a determination and a deemed re-determination and the difference between a re-determination, a permissive re-determination and a mandatory re-determination.

Participants will also know the procedures to follow in filing an appeal and the elements for a successful appeal.

While the requirements are specific to the Canadian Legislation, the factors impacting on the appeal provisions are similar to the appeal procedures in other jurisdictions.
